The Turner Family has been involved in charity work in New Zealand, Fiji and the USA for the past 34 years. This charity work includes supporting rehabilitation programs for street people in Los Angeles, in New Zealand, Building of bus shelters, Pathways, walking bridges, play areas, skateboardbowls, Aquarium and Dolphin pool needs, extensions to public buildings to name a few. The Turner family have assisted the Yasawan Islanders in Fiji in many ways i.e. building the Turner school on Waya island, to enable the children to begin an education, supplying books, sewing machines, clothing, school equipment, tools to teach skills to the Islanders, and putting in power generators for lighting, wiring, etc. Over the past 34 years financial support was sent after many cyclones, which caused hardship to the villages. Gail Turner has over many years kept returning to Fiji, developing an affinity for the people in Fiji. The deputy Prime Minister’s son, for a time, lived with the Turner family whilst furthering his education in New Zealand. Building of this reputation, the Turner family has decided to expand the scope of its charitable work in Fiji and then into outer areas of need, by duplicating the programs into other countries around the world, and there are many. The Turner family currently ships from Phoenix Arizona containers of goods for distribution to the islanders. For the last 15 years the Turner Family has used the charitable resources of John Grey and his family located in Nadi Fiji, to coordinate the charity efforts we have carried out. Goods are collected monthly from The Cerebral Palsy Association in Arizona and shipped to Fiji, where Grey Designs (Architect) distributes the items to those in need. John Grey has been our spokes person and advocate in Fiji, where he has warehouse space to unload the containers coming in from the USA sorting the goods and distributing them. _____________________________________________________________________________ ObjectivesIn 2007, our Doctors for Need and Teachers for Need, organized through our Not For Profit - For Need Foundation, will begin in Fiji, starting with a project identified in Lautoka called ‘Koroipita’, together with several different island communities where Teachers and Doctors will be sent to serve the community in line with our objectives of the Charity. John and Emma will oversee and administer this process and advise us on its progress and any further developmental requirements.
